SAGAS - The Southern Area Group of Astronomical Societies

The map below shows the location of SAGAS member Societies. The red symbols show where each society meets. In some cases socities may meet at altrernative locations for lectures and observing. See the individual society web sites for details.

The Image was produced using Google Earth - here is a copy of the Google KML file of the SAGAS locations. Download the file by right clicking on the Link and using 'save as' to save a copy to the Google Earth directory on your computer.

Note:- The locations shown are the nearest location that could be found for the primary location for the relevant society.

The map below shows the society locations overlaid on a map of light pollution - Black is best and white is worst - excluding the white coastal border.

If you don't have a copy of Google Earth on your computer follow the link to download a copy

Would society representatives please check the location of your societies symbol using the Google Earth KML file. I have tried to place it where your meetings / lectures are but in some cases that has proved difficult to locate - corrections in location to me please.
